Understanding the battle of occurrence-vs-reality. Most of the time (in our day-to-day life as well) we are unable to distinguish “Occurrence” and “Reality”. Our traditional understanding collapse here. Here I am putting my effort to distinguish both

Occurrence=an event under a particular set of conditions or being found in a place.

Reality=the state of things as they actually exist.

Events are inevitable part of our life. These events either occuring once or they are repetitive. I am attempting to understand occurrence-vs-reality in a simpler way.

Reality is something with which we struggle very often. What I know about reality is irrespective of our agreement or disagreement it exists. There is nothing much we can do about its existence or occurrence (i.e. Sun rises in the east and sets in the west, we need to breathe for living etc)

The issue arises when “occurrence” is understood as “reality” Which is not so.

In most of the cases the occurrence is associated with a story. Yes, as a STORY. What happens is different and what we understand is different. Confused? Let me elaborate it a bit more.

Simple example of water can show us the hair-line difference of REALITY and OCCURRENCE. If we go in ice cap climate water in solid state (ice) is reality and keeping it in liquid will be occurrence. In our day-to-day water in liquid for is reality and keeping it in solid state is occurrence. Contradictory, right ?

Well this was an objective description which was fitting into this explanation.

For us as a human being knowing reality is the utmost important thing.

When we were kid and fallen sick, at that time our parents/guardians took care of us. What was that? Was that reality or occurrence? To best of my knowledge for them it was reality, for us it was occurrence, isn’t it ?

We can feel in the blanks with whatever relationship we want. However if we notice most of the time we found very CLEAR and consistent answers to that questions. Usual answer is “Never listen(s) to what I say” or “doesn’t/don’t care about my view/opinion” isn’t it? (It might be reverse also)

And yes here comes the STORY.

Like I said above now the whole drama is turned into a STORY. Now the occurrence of that person is reality for us. What happens here is whenever there is any liking/disliking, agreement/disagreement, right/wrong or positive/negative opinion(s) etc. on particular matter(s). We take that occurrence of liking/disliking, agreement/disagreement, right/wrong or positive/negative opinion(s) etc. as a reality.  We see it as reality rather than just occurrence . This gives us the person/relationship we have NOW. It happens because what we understood or considered is a view about that person based on our own liking/disliking, agreement/disagreement, right/wrong or positive/negative opinion(s) etc. which is not reality. Whatever, agreement/disagreement, right/wrong, positive/negative opinion(s) etc. is there, is just for that particular event(s)/situation(s). Like I said earlier
